WHITE PLAINS – A Hastings-on-Hudson man has been indicted in the fatal hit-and-run crash that killed an elderly Dobbs Ferry man in September.

Johnny Machado, 27, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident without reporting it and criminally negligent homicide, both as felonies.

He was released on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.

It is alleged that on September 20, 2019, Machado drove near Dobbs Ferry High School on Broadway, Route 9, in Dobbs Ferry when he struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk. The victim was 91-year-old Rocco DePaolo, who attended a high school football game and was walking home around 9:25 at night.

DePaolo was taken to Westchester Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Machado drove away after hitting the victim.
