POUGHKEEPSIE – The Republican committees in the 11-county 19th Congressional District in New York have selected Millbrook attorney Kyle Van De Water as their candidate to challenge freshman incumbent, Democrat Antonio Delgado.

He defeated Ola Hawatmeh in weighted balloting.

Ulster County GOP Chairman Roger Rascoe believes he is the best candidate for the race. “Kyle brings to the table a lot of similarities to Congressman Chris Gibson – strong military background, a dynamic personality, certainly a connection with the people at the grassroots level and he understands the issues,” Rascoe said.

Dutchess County Chairman Michael McCormack said Van De Water was “the overwhelming choice” of committee members.

“For the last two years, Congress has failed to deliver on the promises of fixed healthcare, ignored important infrastructure needs, and has overlooked our small businesses,” said Columbia County GOP Chairman Gregory Fingar.

Greene County Chairman Brent Bogardus said, “As a military member, attorney, and family man, Kyle gives us the best chance at taking back this congressional seat and winning back Congress.”
