MONTGOMERY – The Montgomery Town Board has approved a nine member Comprehensive Plan Committee that will be charged with crafting a blueprint for the Town of Montgomery’s future.

The committee will outline future physical growth, anticipated trends and identify economic growth while addressing potential zoning changes, needs related to public health, the environment, social equity and more.

“In just these first two months we have listened to presentations from qualified planning firms and worked through more than thirty applications from members of our community who were interested in being a part of this process,” said Town Supervisor Brian Maher. “We have representation from villages and throughout the town, professionals of many different backgrounds, representatives of all of planning and zoning boards and also a member of the last Comprehensive Plan Committee from 2003.  Each of these individuals has something very unique to offer throughout this process and I look forward to seeing their progress.”

Comprehensive Plan Committee members:

Committee Chair – Councilwoman Cindy Voss
Kristen Brown – Councilwoman
Fred Reichle – Planning Board Chairman
John Fallon – Zoning Board Chairman & local attorney

Mark Hoyt – Member of 2003 Comprehensive Plan Committee

Karina Tipton – Environmental Engineer & founding member of Residents Protecting Montgomery (RPM) community organization

Jane Samuelson – Professional Engineer

Arthur Emerson – IT Specialist
Faith Moore – Executive Director, Orange County Rural Development Advisory Corporation

The firm selected to guide this process is Nelson, Pope & Voorhis, LLC.  This firm recently guided the neighboring towns of Shawangunk, Tuxedo, Mamakating, Monroe, Tuxedo and Blooming Grove in their long-term planning.
