MAMAKATING – A small school bus traveling eastbound on Route 17 from Fallsburg to Orange-Ulster BOCES tipped over on its side Thursday morning when a pickup truck rear-ended it pushing the vehicle into a guardrail.

State Police said five children on the bus were treated and released at Catskill Regional Medical Center for minor injuries following the 7:40 a.m. incident in Mamakating. The children ranged in age from six to 17.

Two bus monitors suffered minor injuries; the driver was not injured.

The pickup truck driver, who was not injured, was cited for driving too closely.

Route 17 was closed between exits 112 and 113 while the investigation continued.
