Fire damages City of Newburgh house

NEWBURGH – A three-alarm fire at 69 Townsend Avenue in the City of Newburgh brought out mutual aid from area fire departments on Thursday.

Heavy smoke poured from the building as firefighters attacked the fire.

Assisting at the scene were West Point, the Stewart Air National Guard, New Windsor, Goodwill, and Cronomer Valley.

On standby were Orange Lake and Coldenham.
Deputy Orange County fire coordinators were on the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.

Newburgh Police blocked South Street while the incident was in progress.
