WASHINGTON – The Hudson-based National Young Farmer Coalition has received $400,000 from the US Department of Agriculture to provide guidance to beginning farmers to prepare them to scale up their operations and remain in compliance with complex food safety requirements.

The money will be used to provide customized training to small to mid-sized farms, beginning farmers, and socially-disadvantaged farmers.

The grant will allow the farmer coalition to conduct annual pre-harvest season produce safety tours for their network of farmers.

The grant was announced by Congressman Antonio Delgado (D, NY-19).
