MONSEY – A young boy was seriously hurt when he was struck by a minivan in Monsey Saturday night, Ramapo Police report.

The accident occurred outside 22 Remsen Avenue around 8 p.m. The driver said he knows the child because he is the next door neighbor to boy’s family, he said.

The six-year-old was rushed by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center in very serious condition, police said.

The driver of the blue minivan remained on the scene. He said he did not see anyone in the roadway before the accident, but he said he suddenly felt something strange dragging under his vehicle.

He said he pulled over and noticed the boy in the roadway behind him with the child’s father screaming to call an ambulance.
