Two injured in Stockport crash

STOCKPORT – The drivers of two vehicles were injured in a Friday afternoon crash on Route 9 at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue in the Town of Stockport.  The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office found that a 2007 Honda Accord, driven by 34-year-old Christopher Greene of Kinderhook was traveling northbound on Rout e9 and struck a 2010 Ford Explorer that was entering the intersection from Atlantic Avenue.

The Ford Explorer, driven by Sueann Cooley, 64, of Stockport, was crossing Route 9 to enter West Atlantic Avenue when she was struck.

Greene complained of injuries to his chest and left hip and was transported to Albany Medical Center by Valatie Rescue Squad.

Cooley complained of injuries to her neck, upper chest, ankle and wrist from the crash. She was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson by Greenport Rescue Squad.

Both drivers were alone in their vehicles.

The preliminary investigation shows that Greene ran the red light at the intersection and struck the Explorer, authorities said. The investigation is continuing and tickets are pending.

Assisting at the scene of the 1 p.m. accident were the Greenport and Valatie rescue squads, Stottville Fire Company, Stockport Fire Company, West Ghent Fire Department, Greenport Police Department and Stockport Highway Department.
