Amazon is coming to Orange County; wins Montgomery IDA approval

MONTGOMERY – By a five to two vote, the Montgomery Town Industrial Development Agency today approved the 15-year amended payment-in-lieu of taxes agreement with Amazon so the giant online merchandising company will construct a one million square foot distribution center in the town.

Site clearing, at the intersection of Routes 747 and 17K is expected to begin as soon as tomorrow.

The project will involve a $75 million capital investment, create as many as 1,000 jobs, and 300 construction jobs over an 18-month period.
