Greene County teen charged with shooting Red Hook man

TIVOLI – The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 17-year-old Cairo man on charges of first-degree assault and robbery and criminal possession of a weapon, all as felonies, in connection with a shooting incident on Tuesday evening.

Authorities were called to Clay Hill Road in the Village of Tivoli around 8:36 p.m. where they located a 20-year-old Red Hook man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he underwent surgery for serious injuries.

The investigation spanned into Columbia County and eventually into Greene County where sheriff’s detectives took the suspect into custody without incident.

The investigation is continuing and police indicate the incident was not a random act of violence.

Authorities have not released the names of the victim or suspect.
