HAVERSTRAW – Police in the Town of Haverstraw have a man in custody after he allegedly shot and killed an employee of TJ McGowan’s Funeral Home at 133 Broadway in Haverstraw Thursday evening.
Town Police said the former employee, whose name they did not immediately release, fired several shots at the current worker, killing him. His name was also not released.
Police encountered the shooter in the parking lot behind the funeral home at around 6:25 p.m. He refused police commands to drop his gun and officers tased him in order to take him into custody. A civilian at the scene saw what was happening and fired his gun striking the man in the shoulder.
The shooter was transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment and the investigation is continuing.
