POUGHKEEPSIE – Two Kingston men are in the Dutchess County Jail on charges that they broke into a woman’s home in the Town of Washington on Tuesday night and stole property from her purse.

Charged are Christopher Arsenault, 32, and Salem Welborn, 31, who allegedly forcibly stole property at 9:30 p.m. on February 4 from a residence at 4957 Route 82.

Two victims suffered minor injuries during the incident and were treated at the scene.

The men fled by the time Dutchess Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, but they were apprehended a short time later just over the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge.

Police said the incident does not appear to be random and there does not appear to be any threat to public safety.

Welborn was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail and Arsenault was committed in lieu of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by State Police and local police from the Town of Red Hook, City of Kingston, Town of Ulster and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is continuing.
