NEW CITY – A 24-year-old Spring Valley man was sentenced in Rockland County Court on Tuesday to 22 years in state prison in connection with the killing of another man on February 20, 2019.
Jose Alejandro Icu-Madrid and the victim, Jairo Danilo Sandoval del Cid and others were socializing in an apartment at 4 Northbrook Road in Spring Valley at 4 a.m. The two men got into an argument during which Icu-Madrid stabbed Sandoval del Cid one time in the chest and one time in the back, causing his death.
Icu-Madrid then fled New York and was later apprehended in Boston, Massachusetts.
He pled guilty to manslaughter on September 24, 2019.
