POUGHKEEPSIE – A new diva has arrived on Main Street in Poughkeepsie and has already been noticed by the community.

Katherine Pena has operated Real Divas Boutique online for 48 months and in December of 2019, the fashionista opened a brick and mortar store on the 400 block of Main Street in the city.  “I see potential in the city of Poughkeepsie and I want to be part of the renaissance,” said the 28-year-old shopkeeper.

The business owner is not a Poughkeepsie native, having attended Red Hook High School before moving first to Poughkeepsie prior to relocating to New Jersey and then Queens to work in the insurance industry.  A broken ankle that required months of rehabilitation brought her back to Poughkeepsie where friends and relatives were able to assist.

Offering a full line of clothing, shoes, and accessories, the store is open seven days a week, with Pena and one employee helping to fulfill customer needs.  “I’m investing in the city and I want to be successful enough that I can add employees to the payroll to do my part in helping the city’s economy,” said Pena.

Ms. Pena noted that she is awaiting the arrival of spring before holding an official “grand opening” celebration which is scheduled for April 11.  Additional information can be found on the store’s website at http://www.realdivasboutique.com
