Two killed by wrong-way driver

HARRISON – Two people were killed when their car was struck head-on by a wrong-way driver on I-287 in the Town of Harrison Thursday night.

State Police said a 2006 Jeep operated by Jamie Paucar, 50, of Amawalk was driving westbound in the eastbound lane when he struck the other vehicle.

The driver, Jordon Wachtell, 57, of Ardsley, was pronounced dead at the scene after his 2018 BMW rolled over and came to rest on the center median guide rail.

A passenger, Eric Goldberg, 17, of Ardsley, was pronounced dead while being transported to Westchester Medical Center. Two other 17-year-old passengers in the BMW, Preston Wachtell of Ardsley, and Jack Rosen of White Plains, were both seriously injured and transported to Westchester Medical Center.

Paucar was only in his vehicle and once extricated was transported to Westchester Med for non-life-threatening injuries.

The cash remains under investigation.

Both eastbound lanes on I-287, between exits 9 and 9A in Harrison were closed for over five hours during the investigation.
