NEWBURGH – Police have identified the two people shot in connection with the incident outside 119 South Clark Street in the City of Newburgh Tuesday evening.

Allah Gayle, a 17-year-old Newburgh Free Academy-North student, was shot several times in the leg and abdomen area. Newburgh resident Aaron Stone, 33, was shot in the hand and leg.

Two 9 millimeter semi-automatic handguns were recovered at the scene.

The incident, discussed in a memo circulated among school district personnel, obtained by Mid-Hudson News, said the student is in the ICU at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.

The memo, written by Raul Rodriguez, co-principal at NFA, said the schools should “continue with the normal building routine. If you have a student/staff member that you are concerned about, please refer to their cohort administrator. If you need assistance please communicate with us through the main office.”

A Shot Spotter notification alerted to 17 gunshots in the area of South Clark between Renwick Street and Benkard Avenue.

The incident is still under investigation. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call them at 845-561-3131.
