HUDSON – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says the man killed in an industrial accident at the ADM Milling facility in Hudson was from Ghent.
Initially, deputies were dispatched on Tuesday morning for a reported cardiac arrest in an elevator chute. Upon arrival and investigation, it was determined that an industrial accident had occurred, which resulted in the death of the employee.
The Columbia-Greene Technical Rescue Team, which was assisted by State Forest Rangers and ADM Milling and staff, the victim was recovered from the shaft.
Coroner Daniel Herrick is also assisting in the investigation with an autopsy scheduled at Ellis Hospital.
Authorities said at this time, foul play is not suspected and the incident appears to be a tragic accident.
