PORT JERVIS – Authorities continue to investigate the case of a newborn baby boy whose naked body was found in a vacant Port Jervis parking lot on November 12.

Police previously said they identified the child’s mother and had spoken to her.

The Port Jervis Police Department Detective Division, Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the county Medical Examiner’s Office have been actively working together investigating the incident, Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden said.

“Police and prosecutors are currently reviewing the results of the autopsy, medical reports and other forensic evidence gathered during the investigation with the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office,” the chief said. “Due to the nature and scope of forensic examinations that have been ordered and performed during this investigation, it is not uncommon for an investigation of this type to be ongoing for several months.  We wish to assure the public that the investigative team is working diligently to bring this investigation to a resolution.”
