MONTICELLO – Sullivan County is seeking applications for a new county attorney. Current attorney Cheryl McCausland will be leaving the position, said County Legislature Chairman Robert Doherty.

The legislature has the authority to hire the county’s chief lawyer.  “You work, when you get hired to be the head county attorney, the term is for four years and by contract, you stay until a new county attorney is hired,” he said.

Since he took over as legislature chairman at the beginning of the year, Doherty said he has had a good working relationship with McCausland.
