ALBANY – A Niverville man was sentenced on Wednesday to 18 years in federal prison after he admitted he distributed heroin and fentanyl to two people who died in Columbia County in July 2016.

Jacob Ebel, 32, pled guilty on September 11, 2019. He will also serve a three-year term of supervised release.

Judge Mae D’Agostino told Ebel at sentencing, “You are forever intertwined with the senseless, tragic deaths of two people who were loved by their families.”

Ebel admitted to dealing heroin and fentanyl first to a 29-year-old man who overdosed on July 3, 2016 and died five days later, and then to a 19-year-old woman, who overdosed and died on July 23, 2016.

Authorities said Ebel knew the first victim had died, but he kept on dealing the fatal drug.
