POUGHKEEPSIE – A 49-year-old City of Poughkeepsie man was arrested last Saturday following a traffic stop at 2605 South Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

At about 5:50 a.m. a Town of Poughkeepsie officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of one stolen in the City of Poughkeepsie.

The vehicle was driven by Carlton Woods, who was found to be intoxicated and driving with a suspended driver’s license. He was also found in possession of other stolen property that had been reported earlier that morning in the City of Poughkeepsie.

While in custody, Woods damaged the interior of a patrol vehicle.

He was subsequently charged with criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief and aggravated unlicensed operation, all as felonies, and misdemeanors of criminal possession of stolen property and driving while intoxicated.

He was also found to be on parole. The State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision was contacted and they issued an arrest warrant for Woods, who was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
