GREENPORT – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two people in connection with the larceny of merchandise from the Walmart store just before 10:30 Sunday morning.
Store loss prevention employees confronted a man leaving the store without paying for merchandise. He ran from the store into a wooded area. A woman was also seen with the man prior to the crime.
Sheriff’s deputies and state troopers began a search of the woods around the store.
The woman, later identified as Shannon Kipp, 28, of Hudson, was located at the Greenport Mobile Station. She was charged with providing a false written statement.
The man was apprehended a short time later behind the Game Shop in the Greenport Commons Plaza.
Everett Rasso, 37, of Hudson, was arrested and charged with concealing and destroying physical evidence, petit larceny and resisting arrest.
Both individuals were issues appearance tickets returnable to Greenport Town Court.
