Mount Vernon man sentenced to prison on weapons charges

WHITE PLAINS – A Mount Vernon man has been sentenced in Westchester County Court to eight years in state prison after being found guilty of weapons possession.

On August 18, 2018, Mount Vernon Police responded to a 911 call on Hussey Road saying there was a man with a gun. Police found Richard Johnson, 37, with a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic handgun with the serial number defaced. He was arrested at the scene and later indicted on one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree resulting in an eight-year prison term and two counts of criminal possession in the third degree, resulting in a five-year term.

Both will run concurrently to be followed by five years of post-release supervision.
