Denver man charged with attempted murder after firing at three people

POUGHKEEPSIE – A Denver, Colorado man is in the Dutchess County Jail without bail after he allegedly shot at three juveniles in the area of Innis Avenue near Arnold Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

Town of Poughkeepsie officers responded to the area at approximately 3:48 pm on January 15 and located the juveniles that had been fired upon.  The children were unharmed but police did find a house that had been struck by a bullet.  No one in the house was injured either.

After town police interviewed the juveniles, they broadcast a description of the vehicle in which the suspect fled.

Justtin Haywood, 37, of Denver, Colorado, was spotted driving in the City of Poughkeepsie a short time after the incident. Police pursued him and stopped him when he turned onto a dead-end street.  He was taken into custody and turned over to town police.

Justtin Haywood was charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, both as felonies.
