GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus and Veterans Service Agency Director Christian Farrell will host a free showing for veterans of the Oscar-nominated movie “1917” at 12:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4th at Flagship Premium Cinemas in Monroe, located at 34 Millpond Parkway.

The County coordinated the event with Flagship Premium Cinemas, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc., Town of Monroe Supervisor Tony Cardone and the Monroe Town Board.

“We have enjoyed hosting the veteran’s movie events and have received a great response from our veterans,” Neuhaus said. “It gives them an opportunity to spend some time other veterans and watch a movie in a relaxed and supportive environment. We are all grateful for their services and sacrifices and this is just one small way to say thank you. I look forward to enjoying this critically-acclaimed movie with them.”

“1917,” which features Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch, tells the story of two British soldiers during World War I, who are given the treacherous mission of delivering a message deep in German territory that will prevent 1,600 men, including the brother of one of the soldiers, from walking straight into a deadly trap. The movie has received seven nominations, including one for best picture.

Veterans can reserve a spot to view “1917” on February 4th for themselves and a guest by contacting Farrell at 291-2470 or cfarrell@orangecountygov.com.
