YONKERS – A 63-year-old Yonkers man has been charged with murder in connection with the stabbing death of a woman at 63 Beaumont Circle in Yonkers.
Police were called to the scene at around 11:46 a.m. where they found the victim on the floor of an apartment suffering from several stab wounds to her torso and neck.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Major Case Squad and Crime Scene Unit interviewed subjects and witnesses, canvassed for surveillance video, and processed forensic evidence.
Police have arrested James Hilliard outside the apartment without incident.
Investigators said it appears the two were known to each other and were engaged in a dispute that escalated into physical violence. Police are working to determine the nature of their relationship and any history between the suspect and victim; no one else is being sought at this time.
Several knives were recovered at the scene as evidence.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
