KINGSTON – David Donaldson of Kingston is the chairman of the Ulster County Legislature in 2020. Lawmakers chose him in a 13 to 10 vote over Heidi Haynes of the Town of Hurley.
The chairwoman in 2019, Tracey Bartels, nominated Donaldson, who served as chairman once before when Democrats controlled the lawmaking body.
He told his colleagues the county has a number of challenges going forward. “We have a crisis in housing that we need to address. We also have problems with dealing with opioids. That is a significant problem that we have seen and we will have to address that,” he said.
Donaldson served as chairman from 2006 through 2009.
