KINGSTON – A Kerhonkson man has been charged by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office with criminal mischief for allegedly preventing an emergency assistance request.

The man, who deputies did not identify, was also charged with the violation of harassment.

On January 3, deputies responded to a domestic dispute in the Town of Wawarsing and the resulting investigation alleged the man pushed a woman into a nightstand, causing minor injuries. He is also alleged to have taken a cell phone from her to prevent her from calling for help.

He fled the scene before police arrived, but returned a short time later.

It was also learned he was wanted by New York State Parole.

The man was arraigned and released to reappear in town court at a later date and then taken to the Ulster County Jail on the parole warrant.

Deputies were assisted by the State Police and Kerhonkson Accord First Aid Squad.
