YORKTOWN HEIGHTS – Police in the Town of Yorktown are collecting evidence and reviewing video of the immediate and surrounding areas where vandals struck in the early morning hours of January 4 on town and private property.

Authorities said the incidents appear to be linked.

Four glass doors were shattered at the Yorktown Stage, a menorah was toppled at Veterans’ Field and several windows were broken at John C. Hart Memorial Library.

Windows were also destroyed at the First Presbyterian Church and the St. Patrick’s Old Stone Church.

Town Supervisor Matt Slater and Police Chief Robert Noble said town personnel are repairing the damaged town facilities.

In a joint statement, the men said the town “wholeheartedly condemns these hateful and disrespectful acts. We will attempt to identify and hold accountable those responsible to the fullest extent of the law.”

The officials said destructive acts like these have no place in any community. They have asked the community to assist the police by sharing any information that may be helpful in the apprehension of those responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 914-962-4141 or by email at info@yorktownpd.org .

The town is monitoring its other public facilities and the police will maintain an increased presence, Slater and Noble said.
