Lloyd town police chief to retire

Chief Daniel Waage

HIGHLAND – Lloyd Town Police Chief Daniel Waage will end his 25-year career with the police department when he retires on January 31, 2020.

Through his career, he served as dispatcher, police officer, sergeant and chief.

During several years of his career as a police officer and sergeant, Waage was a member of the Kingston Ulster Narcotics Team and the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team.

Waage was sworn in as Lloyd chief on October 1, 2012 and during his tenure, he enhanced the department by upgrading communications equipment, increasing the technology used throughout the station as well as the vehicles and within the last year, upgraded the department’s records management by joining forces with the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

Waage held the position of president of the Ulster County Police Chiefs Association for two years and was an active member of the Joint Terrorism Task Force.
