MONSEY – The man who allegedly attacked a Hanukkah party in Monsey Saturday night, slashing five people is a resident of Greenwood Lake, authorities said.

Grafton Thomas, 37, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder and one count of burglary.

Thomas, who had his face partially covered by a scarf, entered the party at 47 Forshay Road armed with a machete and proceeded to attack attendees.

He fled in a car and was later arrested in Manhattan thanks to a license plate reader that discovered that he had driven to New York City.

Following his arraignment in Ramapo Town Court Sunday, he was remanded to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $5 million bail.

The case remains under investigation by Ramapo Town Police along with the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, NYPD and the FBI.
