One struck as gunfire rings out in Newburgh

NEWBURGH – Eight gunshots rang out between 102 and 112 on William Street in the City of Newburgh Friday evening and when city police investigated, they found one person had been shot.

The individual was transported to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital for treatment.

Police blocked the roadway between Renwick and Benkard Avenue while they searched for shell castings.

Police remained on the scene as the investigation continued.

There was no immediate word on the condition of the victim.
