PORT JERVIS – The Port Jervis City Council has declared itself lead agency in the environmental process to annex two parcels of land from the Town of Deerpark.

Mayor Kelly Decker said the owners of the properties have expressed interest in annexing into the city for development purposes. “One would be a light industry development and that would be on the northern end of the city and then on the southeastern end of the city, would be commercial development near I-84,” he said. “We hired the firm of Barton and Loguidice who have set us up on a timeline and the SEQR process was the start of it.”

That state-required review will determine if the annexation will cause an impact on the environment and if so, how it can be remediated.
