District Attorney David Hoovler said Jamaad Murphy, pictured, was armed and dangerous

TOWN OF WALLKILL – Police are looking for Jamaad Murphy, 26, of the Town of Wallkill in connection with the November 3, 2019 shooting death of Mathew Napoleoni, 23, outside the Puerto Rico Latin Cuisine and Sports Bar in Wallkill.

Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said Wednesday that Murphy is “armed and dangerous.”  The gun used in the homicide, believed to be a black 40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, has not been located.

Police believe Murphy is in the Middletown-Wallkill area.

The shooting incident occurred around 2:15 in the morning.

On Wednesday, a grand jury indicted Murphy on charges of murder, manslaughter, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.

Hoovler is asking the public’s assistance in the case. If anyone knows Murphy’s whereabouts or anything about the crime to call the State Police at 845-344-5300.

They may also contact New York State Crime Stoppers at 866-313-TIPS. That agency is offering up to a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Murphy.

Murphy was previously acquitted in another killing, the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy outside his Lake Street Apartments home in May 2015.
