MONTICELLO – A Lake Huntington man was sentenced in Sullivan County Court on Wednesday to 17 1/3 to 25 years in state prison on his jury conviction on charges of conspiracy and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, all as felonies.
The proof at trial established that Sean Lundy, 39, conspired with several others to keep one co-conspirator, yet to stand trial, in business as a major trafficker of cocaine in Sullivan County between June 2017 and June 2018. Lundy was also convicted of possessing more than 49 grams of crack cocaine in his residence in Lake Huntington with intent to sell it on June 8, 2018. Police found the drugs when they executed a search warrant and took him into custody on the conspiracy charge.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Meagan Galligan, who recommended the sentence, noted Lundy was previously convicted of felony robbery and drug charges in North Carolina and Virginia, respectively, and the prison sentences imposed in those cases did nothing to deter him from participating in this long-term conspiracy to distribute cocaine in Sullivan County.
“This defendant’s conduct cannot be tolerated,” said Galligan. “The trial jury recognized the scope and severity of this drug distribution network, which were reflected in my recommendation for the maximum legal sentence in this case.”
Investigating the case were the New York State Police Narcotics Unit and Liberty and Wurtsboro barracks of the State Police, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Fallsburg Town Police, Monticello and Liberty Village Police, and police members of the DA’s office.
