WASHINGTON – US Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY-18) have urged top Air Force and National Guard Bureau officials to locate a new Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at the Stewart Air National Guard Base in the Town of Newburgh.

Schumer said the Stewart base, home of the 105th Airlift Wing with a fleet of C-17 cargo jets, “is ideally situated” for the new squadron and “undoubtedly deserves to be selected.”

Gillibrand said placing the squadron at Stewart “would greatly increase the military’s ability to respond to medical emergencies, and support job creation in the Hudson Valley.”

“From the beginning, we’ve been committed to landing this squadron here in the Hudson Valley – and we’re pulling out all the stops to show Stewart has the personnel and equipment to make the ideal new home for the mission,” Maloney said.
