WHITE PLAINS – A 36-year-old Cold Spring man, who was a teacher and public official in Cold Spring, has been arrested and charged with attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.

According to the allegations in a federal complaint, Charles Hustis communicated over Facebook Messenger with a 16-year-old victim during which he sent sexual images including photographs of himself, and attempted to arrange a meeting with the victim to perform sex acts.

Hustis was arrested by law enforcement officers on December 16, 2019, after he arrived at a meeting location that he had arranged with the victim, expecting to bring the child back to his apartment for sexual activity.

Hustis was charged with one count of attempted enticement of a minor, which carries a sentence of 10 years to life in prison if convicted.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Cold Spring Police.
