WASHINGTON – All four Democratic area House members voted for impeachment of President Trump Wednesday evening.

Elliott Engel (D, NY-16), Nita Lowey (D, NY-17), Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY-18) and Antonio Delgado (D, NY-19) all cast votes to impeach.

Lowey, who is retiring at the end of the current term, said she supported impeachment because “the president sought foreign assistance to influence the 2020 presidential election and went to great lengths to obstruct Congress during the investigations.”

She said Trump “is not fit to serve as president. Make no mistake. Republicans turning a blind eye to the president’s misdeeds won’t hide the threats of his actions to our democracy.”

Maloney said “There is clear and convincing evidence that President Trump used taxpayer money and official acts to pressure a foreign government to help him win re-election by slandering a fellow American. These actions are unworthy of the presidency.”

Not everyone sees the vote that way.

Michael McAdams, the spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee, said the votes by Maloney and Delgado “destroy any chance (they have) for reelection and shows New York voters (they) exactly like the rest of the socialist Democrats.”
