Putnam County investigator injured when struck while directing traffic

MAHOPAC – An investigator from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office who was directing traffic at around 7:38 p.m. on Saturday was struck by an SUV while he was directing traffic on Route 6 in Mahopac.

The officer, whose name was not released, sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries, Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. said. He was transported to Danbury Hospital by the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department’s ambulance.

The driver, whose name police also did not release, was issued three summonses for disobeying a lawful order of a police officer, failure to exercise due care when approaching an emergency vehicle, and speeding.

Town of Carmel Police investigated with assistance from the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department, the staff at Danbury Hospital and the sheriff’s office.
