OSSINING – Crews were able to cap off the large force main in Ossining that was pouring raw sewage into the Hudson River since Sunday morning at 2:30 a.m. Monday.
Initially officials said 30,000 gallons per hour of sewage was flowing into the river, but Monday afternoon, they said environmental conservation officials estimated less than 15,000 gallons were discharged in total on Sunday.
The event ran from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday and the pipe was repaired early Monday morning.
