WASHINGTON – It appears that all four members of Congress from the Hudson Valley/Catskill region will vote for the articles of impeachment when they come before the full House this week.

Rep. Antonio Delgado (D, NY-19) said Sunday he will vote to impeach. “There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor political, nor popular, but he must do it because conscience tells him it is right,” the freshman lawmaker said, quoting his “hero,” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Having reviewed the articles of impeachment and the underlying evidence, my conscience tells me that the right thing to do is abide by my oath of office and vote affirmatively for both articles,” Delgado said.

Congressman Elliott Engel (D, NY-16), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said they have “a sworn duty as Members of Congress to uphold the Constitution. As we move into the next phase of the impeachment process, please know the House Foreign Affairs Committee will continue to fulfill its vital role in providing Congressional oversight of this administration.”

“The evidence and investigations lead to two conclusions: the president sought foreign assistance to influence the 2020 presidential election and went to great lengths to obstruct Congress during the investigations,” Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D, NY-17) posted on Facebook on Friday. “These impeachable offenses have endangered the integrity of our elections and the very democratic principles on which our nation was founded. Donald Trump is not fit to serve as president, and I will vote to remove him from office.”

Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY-18) said this past week that he is calling on all parties “to stay rooted in the facts and in fairness, with the Constitution as our guide.” He said he is “confident that the American public will, over time, see that these actions are as necessary as they are unfortunate.”

Maloney said the House will “hold the president accountable for his conduct. I hope my colleagues in the Senate do the same.”
