Blauvelt man charged with DWI after crashing into fence, utility pole

ORANGEBURG – A 68-year-old Blauvelt man has been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed his car into a fence and utility pole, Orangetown Police reported.

At about 9:17 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, Harry Savas was driving on Western Avenue hear Schreiber Street in Tappan when he crashed, police said. He was found to be driving in an intoxicated condition.

Savas was transported to Montefiore Nyack Hospital by South Orangetown Ambulance for treatment of an injury he sustained in the crash. Police said he consented to a blood test at the hospital and was charged with DWI.

He is due in court in January.
