NEWBURGH – The Newburgh City Fire Department will be without a chief as of early January when Acting Chief Terry Ahlers retires.
It may take a while for another person to fill that post as a civil service test for chief will be administered this Saturday, December 14 and results will not be known for months.
Two examines will actually be given – a promotional test and an open competitive test.
City Manager Joseph Donat said four individuals have signed up to take the tests – two for each exam.
