Westchester lawmaker Kaplowitz to become deputy county commissioner

WHITE PLAINS – Longtime Westchester County Legislator Michael Kaplowitz will be named as a deputy commissioner of the Department of Environmental Facilities by County Executive George Latimer.

Kaplowitz, who has held the chairmanship of the board of legislators, is an accountant by profession.

The administration said he will use his financial and legal background to evaluate the financial and governance issues related to sewer districts and the costs and benefits of consolidations.

Latimer will make the formal announcement on Wednesday.
