PLEASANTVILLE – Police in the Village of Pleasantville made a grisly discovery Thursday afternoon when they conducted a welfare check at a home at 57 Romer Avenue.

Pleasantville school officials requested the check following the absences of two children at their schools.

Responding police officers entered the home around 1:50 p.m. and found the bodies of two adults and two children.

The causes of death have not yet been determined and village police have brought in the Crime Scene and Investigations units of the Westchester County Police for assistance.

Police said at this point they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to public safety and it is believed the deaths may have been a murder-suicide situation.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims pending notification of relatives.
