MONTICELLO – A Monticello man is being held in the Sullivan County Jail following his arrest early Tuesday on charges that he had just stabbed two taxicab workers in the face with a screwdriver and then kicked in a window at a nearby residence.

Monticello Village Police charged Gimel Kimble, 34, on felony charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He was also charged with the misdemeanors of criminal mischief, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and obstructing governmental administration.

At 12:08 a.m., police responded to a report of two men who were stabbed in the area of Broadway and Jefferson Street. They located the men, 22 and 30 years old, both employed with a local taxi company and were in the process of a shift change in the parking lot when another man, later identified as Kimble, started a conversation and then pulled a screwdriver and stabbed both men in the face. Both victims sustained punctures near their left eyes with one man being treated at Catskill Regional Medical Center.

The suspect fled but a half hour later, Monticello Police received a report that Kimble had just kicked in and broke a window at a residence on Park Avenue.

Within a few minutes, officers located Kimble walking on Prince Street and took him into custody.

When they searched him, they found a crack pipe and hypodermic syringes. He also refused to cooperate with officers and a review of video surveillance identified Kimble as the person responsible for the stabbing of the two men.
