MONTGOMERY – Brian Maher, the incoming Montgomery town supervisor, is not sold on the development of big-box warehouses.

The town has a number of them located there with others on the drawing boards.

Maher has mixed emotions about the continued development of those types of facilities. “The process that is in place is imperfect but it is the one that we have and there are tons of different developments we can put in the town that will yield, maybe not as high a return immediately, but in terms of long-term sustainability and jobs, we need to be doing more as a town to recruit different types of businesses that we don’t have for jobs,” he said.

Currently, Medline is hoping to win town approval to construct a large distribution center in Montgomery.
