TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A 44-year-old Newburgh city man was arrested by Poughkeepsie Town Police following a domestic incident at 10 p.m. on November 30.

Police had responded to 107 Fulton Avenue, the Vassar Garden Apartments, for a report of a fight in progress. Officers found William Green, Jr. being restrained on the ground by another man. Officers separated both parties.

Investigation determined that Green had been involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend earlier in the evening. A neighbor heard Green and his girlfriend arguing and attempted to calm the situation down.

Green then went to the neighbor’s apartment, kicked in the door, and entered the residence where he allegedly assaulted the male occupant by punching him and striking him on the head with a bottle.

The female occupant attempted to stop Green and he began punching her.

Other uninvolved neighbors heard the disturbance and responded to the apartment and restrained Green until police arrived.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital where they were treated and released for their injuries.

Green was charged with burglary and two counts of assault, all as felonies.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
