MIDDLETOWN – The Middletown City budget for 2020 comes in under the state as it has every year since the cap was imposed by Albany.

The average homeowner will pay an estimated $28  more in property taxes but Mayor Joseph DeStefano noted that because the city falls within the tax caps, residents will receive a rebate check from the state.

The general fund budget comes in at about $42 million, while the water department budget is $7.8 million and the sewer fund is $6.1 million.
