TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Police have arrested Anthony Wilder Jr. after a brief foot chase near Greenvale Park in the town.

Town of Poughkeepsie Police Captain Michael O’Dowd said that on Wednesday evening, an officer on patrol came across an occupied vehicle in the park and made contact with the occupants.  While interviewing the occupants, the officer learned that Wilder, a passenger in the vehicle, had an outstanding warrant for violating parole on an attempted robbery with a handgun charge from the State of Virginia Parole Board.

When officers attempted to place Wilder in custody, he fled on foot into the woods.  After the foot pursuit, the 39-year-old Bronx resident was apprehended.  Wilder was charged with the felony of being a Fugitive from Justice, a misdemeanor of Obstructing Governmental Administration, and the violations of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and In Park After Hours.

Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Stephan Krakower arraigned Wilder and remanded him, without bail, to the Dutchess County Jail on the fugitive charge.  Krakower set bail of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond on the other charges.
